Cladding
Refers to the application of one material over another to provide a protective and decorative layer. It is used to enhance the appearance of a building and to protect it from weather elements. Common cladding materials include wood, metal, stone, vinyl, and composite materials. Each material offers different benefits in terms of durability, maintenance, and aesthetic appeal.

Cornice
An architectural element found at the top of a building’s wall or at the junction of a wall and ceiling. Cornices are often decorative, designed to add visual interest to a building. They can be simple or elaborately detailed, depending on the architectural style. Cornices also help in directing rainwater away from the building’s walls.

Counterflashing
A critical component in roofing, used to prevent water infiltration into a building, especially around chimneys, vents, and where the roof meets a vertical wall. Counterflashing is installed over the primary flashing and is essential in ensuring a watertight seal. It is usually made of durable materials like metal or rubber.
