Rafter
A structural member that supports the roof deck, sloping from the ridge to the wall plate.

Rebar (Reinforcing Bar)
Steel bars embedded in concrete to increase its tensile strength.

Reveal
The side of a window or door opening that faces the exterior of the wall.

Ridge Beam
The main horizontal support running along the top of a roof.

Riprap
Loose stone used to form a foundation for a breakwater or other structure.

Riser
The vertical portion of a step in a staircase.

Roof Pitch
The slope of a roof expressed as a ratio of vertical rise to horizontal span.

Rough-In
The preliminary installation of plumbing and electrical parts before the final finishing.

Router
A power tool used in woodworking to hollow out an area in a hard material like wood or plastic. Routers are versatile tools used for shaping edges, creating grooves, or cutting designs.

Rubble
Rough, irregular stones used in masonry construction.

Rustication
A masonry technique where the visible faces of stone are left rough while the edges are beveled or squared off.
