Dado
A term used in carpentry and woodworking, referring to a slot or trench cut into the surface of a piece of wood. A dado is cut across the grain and is used to house another piece of wood for a secure joint. It is commonly used in cabinetry and furniture making for constructing shelves and drawers.

Dormer
A structural element that extends from the plane of a sloping roof surface. Dormers are used to create additional space in a loft or attic and to provide natural light and ventilation. They come in various styles, such as gabled, hipped, shed, and eyebrow dormers, each adding a distinct character to the building.

Drywall
Also known as plasterboard or gypsum board, it is a panel made of calcium sulfate dihydrate (gypsum) sandwiched between two thick sheets of paper. Drywall is used to make interior walls and ceilings and provides a smooth, paintable surface. It has largely replaced traditional plaster for interior wall and ceiling coverings due to its ease of installation and cost-effectiveness.

Ductwork
Refers to the system of ducts used to distribute air for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) in a building. The design and layout of ductwork are crucial for efficient air distribution and energy efficiency. Ductwork can be made of sheet metal, fiberglass, or other materials and requires proper installation and maintenance for optimal performance.
